In FG 8.1, you will be able to do power search in either directions by tapping on different side of the button. This allows faster search and avoids backsight prism.
A more comprehensive solution is planned for a future update.

This is one I've also been asking for Ted!

Today's example, which happens from time to time, is that I had to resolve some dismensions for a builder, and he wants a drawing (sketch) from me that illustrates the resolved distances. This would be so easy if I could simply switch the distance style, label the building, then print and send the sketch.

Well most of us wouldn't want this to work on the raw obsevation data, but it would be hugely beneficial for correcting Descriptions and TH's on side shots but...
My main reason for requesting this is so that I can quickly resolve multiple point ID's for shots before exporting for use in StarNet.
For example, point 26 must always be 26 in StarNet, but as FG will not allow this, I must go through my field data and rename all shots to point 26. (from 126, 226, 1026 or so on...)

    Thanks!

I agree with Arnel, but for one caveat: Many firms will want a way to restrict its use, as LSA results are not black and white, so would not want inexperienced users to be doing these in the field.
For the Land Surveyor or Advanced Technologist, this would a fabulous addition to FieldGenius....or perhaps a standalone program in the same data collector, which would work with FG data transparently.

I like how MS Leroy Text is automatically sized to match drawing scale, but the fonts in use are archaic. I'd like to be able to set up my own palate of text styles, that take advantage of the existing smart sizing functionality, and one click selection, but us fonts and plotted heights of my own choosing.

    Ron,
The MSCAD Helmert's routine has alway had this option.
Read the dialog carefully that pops up when you press OK to process.

"Transformation Scale is:_________ Do you wish to scale the local points?"

When you answer NO, scale is held at 1.
If you answer YES, the scale factor computed, and displayed in the above noted message, is applied to your local point set as they are transformed.
I hope this clears it up for you.

    Ben,
Helmert's is a similarity transformation, and holds the "shape" of the trasformation set....which is to say the angles between points in the transformation (local) set are always held. Distances will only change if the scale points option, described above is applied...answering YES to the question.

    John,
I'm not following the logic for your request? Do you wish to consider your local points to already be on the correct astronomic orientation?

If this is the case, why not simply shift your points to the other system, then use the Clusters tool to generate a report on the fitment?

There is a workaround to do this now, but we have to go into Settings and disable robotic staking, then use Turn to point, then reset to robotic mode after. It would be very useful to be able to do this, when needed, in a more fluid and efficient manner
