MicroSurvey CAD

Welcome to the MicroSurvey CAD feedback and ideas forum. This forum is for you to use to offer us feedback about features you would like added or improved.

You have 25 votes that can be used, a minimum of one vote is needed per feature request. You can also use your votes towards existing features that other users have requested.

After a feature has been implemented, you will get your votes back to apply to new or other existing features.

How can we improve MicroSurvey CAD, inCAD, or embeddedCAD?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Have smart TIN lines.

Being able to just pick a TIN line and move it to another point or creating a new line. Modifying a line. And let MS create all needed contouring layers automatically. Updating new contour lines without starting all over.
Geez this contouring package is terrible. About 15 years behind the others.

    • Adjustment Improvements

MSCAD doesn't adjust (angle and compass) FG data very well. SS measurements from occupy points aren't scaled properly and any measurements after the FS close point mess up the adjustment.

Due to the limitations there seems to be only 2 ways to adjust the data. 1) Edit the traverse file to only include the main traverse stations, adjust, lock the main traverse points and recoordinate the original traverse file. This process can be very time consuming. 2) Create an existing point traverse, adjust, lock the main traverse points and recoordinate the original traverse file. The existing point traverse seems to…

      • allow creation of a parallel line at specified distance from line being created in Point Cloud

Allow a parallel polyline draped to the point cloud to be created concurrent with a polyline being picked from points in the cloud. Also it would help to pick points if you know the rubberbanded distance from the last picked point even in profile slice view.

        • Vertical Faces, Walls & Real World Instances

MSCAD needs to have the ability to have vertical faces and other solid objects, put into the drawings via points, or manual methods. The Tin needs to be able to recognize these objects, or at the very least treat them in a manner that is to be ignored without cuasing error. The Tin could just run right into a solid object (such as a water channer shear retaining wall) then move along the face of the object if need be befor picking up the next survey point. This would make area calculations potentially easier. Especially if you can then set…

          • Batch Cogo - curves consecutive number

When entering curves using batch cogo, point numbers are automatically added. The radial point number is larger than the EC number by default causing problems when entering subsequent line items as it defaults to the radial point rather than your EC point. This should be changed so that the radial point is sequential to the BC.

            BC = 1, Radial = 2, EC = 3.

            • MicroSurvey is the best CAD software I have ever seen.

But, it will be better if auto-map and volume calculation would be simplified more to be user friend.

                • Importing Google Earth DTM Surface into MsCad

I like the option of importing Google Earth DTM Surface into MSCAD for Review and Preplanning Purposes. We currently use the USGS Quad Maps for this function and having this ability would make MsCad so much more useful.
I understand Autocadd Civil 3D has this functionality currently but that they are dropping it from future updates and releases. Most of the AutoCadd Civil 3D users I have spoken with love the function and are dreading the inability in the next release.
This would make MsCad take the lead, where it belongs!!

                    • Re-coordinate RTK Vectors from FieldGenius

I would like to be able to re-coordinate RTK vectors from the fieldgenius raw files. This would be a huge help when working off autonomous base stations.

Now that we can control the location of point numbers, descriptions, and elevations I would like to be able to define the font style and size of these lables using the Automap.

                        • Auto create linework from template created in profile slices

Be able to create a template while in profile slices and have the slicer auto matically move forward through the cloud and best fit the template to the cloud. Having an entered alignment for the profile slices to follow normally to may make the proceedure easier.

                          • Fast Area and Area by Point Number: Provide more customization of the area labelling functions

                            Two requests:
                            1) Allow users to specify a unique text style for each label item
                            2) Allow users to specify area labeling thresholds that match regulatory requirements, such as:
                             Up to 0.1 ha quote to 0.1 m2
 From 0.1 ha to 1 ha quote to 0.001 ha
 From 1 ha up to 10 ha quote to 0.01 ha
 From 10 ha up to 100 ha quote to 0.1 ha
 From 100 ha and over quote to 1 ha
and an equivalents for other units for other countries.

                            This would be massively convenient!

Many surveyors have to establish offset lines to irregular boundaries. An extremely common occurance of this is staking the inner limit of an Original Shore Road Allowance. Another is setting a building setback for by-law purposes from the water's edge on a waterfront lot. I would like to be able to create a line which is offset from an irregular boundary (i.e. the water's edge) such that any point on that line is a set distance away from it. Currently we have to manually click on each point on our water's edge, draw a circle at each point, individually offset…

                              • Apply COGO Bearing Rotation - Ignored for inversed bearings

If "Apply COGO Bearing Rotation" is on, when a bearing is added into COGO by an inverse (or the previous value is continued), that the inversed bearing is used without applying the bearing rotation.
For example, I am traversing through a plan with the entered bearings having a rotation applied. A portion of the plan as a straight segment, and instead of entering the bearing again, I use enter to use the same bearing or inverse betweent the previously entered points. Because there was no "new" data entered, no rotation is applied.

                                • Add >>"GIS Shapefile >>Attributes Export >>Spreadsheet" to MSCAD.

Gives us the flexibility of Exporting GIS Attributes from MSCAD to spreadsheet.
This should include the option to calculate coordinates for centroid of closed polygons. It should also allow us to annotate that centroid with an ID. In other words, we should be able to annotate and calculate for coordinates of the central points for closed polygons.

This will eliminate the use of other programs for same purpose.

                                        • Mapping grid

When producing a mapping grid. It would be nice under Grid design to have other option of just put a grid mark around the perimeter with its text label. And another option to have the + sign at certain intersection, say every 5th. As at the moment you just have to delete the ones you don't want.
