MicroSurvey CAD

Welcome to the MicroSurvey CAD feedback and ideas forum. This forum is for you to use to offer us feedback about features you would like added or improved.

You have 25 votes that can be used, a minimum of one vote is needed per feature request. You can also use your votes towards existing features that other users have requested.

After a feature has been implemented, you will get your votes back to apply to new or other existing features.

How can we improve MicroSurvey CAD, inCAD, or embeddedCAD?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. I would like to be able to change the orientation of the text when labeling a curve.

When labeling a curve the text cannot be rotated 180 degrees using MsAnnotate. MSCad treats each individual text as a single entity and rotates it 180 degrees then the curve label is backwards. Example: when rotating r=310.00 180 degrees you get 00.013 = r. It is the same orientation as the other text but it is not right. The curve label should not be individual characters, but one entity of text.

    • When CSF & convergence are turned off in ACE, don't include the columns in copy and paste functionality.

If CSF and convergence are turned off and not displayed in the active coordinate editor, don't include those columns in copy and paste functionality.

      • bring back the ability to switch between DMS and decimal degrees in ACE

Bring back the ability to switch between decimals degrees and DMS for lat/long coordinates in the active coordinate editor. It's a PITA to have to change the drawing units in order to see decimal degrees. Single checkbox functionality was in 2010. We moved to 2018 and lost it.

        • Use "attributes" to expand Automap (GIS style for drawing symbols)

Our Leica data collectors (and I suspect all modern collectors) have the ability to define multiple attributes for a line or point. Currently these attributes are not even imported when I bring in a DBX file.

An example: A code tree could have the following attributes:
          Species
          Trunk Diameter
          Canopy Diameter
Health with choice-list: (Dead, Nearly Dead, sick, good, excellent)

With the above data, I may choose to show all my trees with trunks and diameters drawn to scale with no annotation. Or I could colour-code by "health". Or I could add a text label with the species. Each attribute…

              • Add >>"GIS Shapefile >>Attributes Export >>Spreadsheet" to MSCAD.

Gives us the flexibility of Exporting GIS Attributes from MSCAD to spreadsheet.
This should include the option to calculate coordinates for centroid of closed polygons. It should also allow us to annotate that centroid with an ID. In other words, we should be able to annotate and calculate for coordinates of the central points for closed polygons.

This will eliminate the use of other programs for same purpose.

When opening Native AutoCAD 2018 drawings get the notice that it needs to convert to 2013 version and xrefs version.
would like to work in true 2018 version so avoid some glitches.

                  • Pdf Underlay as Vector

Would want / need the PDF underlay feature to use / insert as vectorial.
When I get from a colleague working with autocad that inserts that item, in microsurvey (maybe because of intellicad) It is interpreted as a photograph with backgound and all.

the ipn labels are not layer controlled.when setting points on different layers, and turning on the ipn's, (ipn, ipd & ipe), it would be nice to see only the ipn labels for the points that are thawed rather than all points in the drawing file

                              • Improve the migration wizard to include Aliases, Keyboards, etc

Migration wizard at the moment does not carry forward items found under "tools-customize" such as specific keyboard shortcuts and alias commands.

If these are exported manually and imported into a newer version they are still not properly read and do not work (Tried and failed going from 2016 to 2017). The only fix is manually re-typing any changes that were made in the previous version.

Please improve the migration wizard to include the currently set alias and keyboard listings.

                                  • Create a routine to Import KML /KMZ files.

There are a lot of physical features in Google Earth which indicate the extent of ownership. The edge of a clear cut can indicate where a blazed line may exist, a row of trees between two farm fields can indicate an old fence. These features, which may be located on the east coast, can mean long standing occupation which can also be extent of title. if we can pull this coordinates into MSCAD then we have a starting point to get going in the field. A tremendous value.

                                    • Auto Average Points

Working in high rise residential I'm setting up multiple targets on surrounding buildings. I must shoot the targets from multiple ground set-ups from ground controls given from the surveyor. When coordinating these targets from different set-ups I get slight errors in distance, elevation, and northing/eastings so I need to average these points. I do this manually. I would like to select the points in model space with window select or active coordinate editor.

                                        • Match rotation command

I constantly find myself trying to match text rotation to that of an adjacent line. It would really speed up drafting to have a simple command where I can click a line as reference and then the text/mtext and have it rotate to match.
